Music of the Reef and Rainforest

Tropical North Queensland has a vibrant music scene. Many talented musicians have chosen to live and work in the creatively stimulating environment of Australia's reef and rainforest region.

The Tropical Tablelands and Reef and Rainforest region hosts a variety of music festivals throughout the year including the Yungaburra Folk Festival and the Walkamin Country Music Festival.

Music, Dance and our diverse global/local culture is also showcased during the annual Mareeba Multicultural Festival.

Andy Sugarcane Collins

Inspired by Charley Patton and Son House, Blind Blake, Leadbelly, Sugarcane sings passionately with a voice that is big and soulful, writes songs that are potent and rich with imagery and attacks the guitar with a driving rhythmic swing.

Kim Mullins Band

Kim's exciting new music venture is a collaborative effort with CELINE DAVIES. Together they form the duo PRODIGAL SISTA, live band the KIM MULLINS BAND, and top forty dance band MOTIF8.

The Waves

Over a period of years have worked with a wide variety of other artists including Crowded House, Whitney Houston, John Farnham, Tina Turner, The Little River Band, George Michael, Noise Works, John English, INXS, Jimmy Barnes and more.

Grant Mandolins

From the tropics of Far North Queensland Australia, native timbers are partnered with fine craftmanship to create eight stringed musical pleasures. A limited number of handbuilt instruments are produced each year, and are sold only at the workshop door.
