TED Event: 'Hearts And Minds', changed to 9 April

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The annual TED Conference invites the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes. Their talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.

The second TEDxMonga conference will be held at Nangang Software Park on Saturday 9 April 2011. This will be a full-day event, on the theme of “Hearts and Minds”.

We all face situations every day where we need people to “buy in” to our ideas, whether as managers or marketers; teachers or designers; or simply ordinary people trying to get a job done. TEDxMonga II is dedicated to the question of how we persuade others to change their behaviour.

** Speaker Change: Vincent Lam had to cancel his engagements in Taiwan and return to Canada due to family issues. He will be replaced by Jerry Kuo, CEO of Atlaspost.com, a startup company from Taiwan that won several awards in the USA and was recently purchased by Groupon.com. Jerry has successfully demonstrated that Taiwanese companies can compete internationally in the creative industries, built a very powerful team, reached hundreds of thousands of customers, and got buy-in from the leaders in his industry. He will be a great addition to our speaker line-up, and we’re looking forward to hearing his talk! **

    All the best

PS – We will be featured on ICRT every day next week, as they have embraced our mission of spreading great ideas.
