Perry Fung joined the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in Taiwan in 1989. He has been working in various business Departments (Exhibitions, Publications and Business Matching Departments), as well as serving in the Council’s Sydney Office (1990-93) and Beijing Office (2005-2008), before coming to set up the Taiwan Office in late October 2008.

Trista: What were your first impressions of Taiwan?
Perry Fung: Nice and sincere people, with good food and exciting outdoor activities.

TdG: What are your favorite places to eat here?
Perry: The restaurants around Yung Hong Street.

TdG: What do you do in your free time, and what are your favorite places to visit in Taiwan?
Perry: All hiking and cycling trails in Taiwan. I love visiting Yangmingshan National Park, Toroko National Park.

TdG: What projects is your office currently undertaking in trade development?
Perry: Promoting 30 Hong Kong Trade Fairs and an online marketplace to over 2,300 Taiwan exhibitors/advertisers and 17,000 Taiwan buyers annually to do more business. We are also introducing and helping Taiwan and Hong Kong enterprises to jointly penetrate the China retail market, as well as organizing Taiwan finance and real estate missions to Hong Kong. We’re setting up the Taiwan-HK Bilateral cooperation committee, and many more projects.
