WILD EAST MAG NAMES TAIWAN ‘MOST FRIENDLY’ & ‘BEST PLACE TO TEACH IN ASIA’

By Trista di Genova / The Wild East

GREAT NEWS for Taiwan lovers & new English-speaking graduates worldwide!! 🙂

Teaching English as a foreigner is SUCH a good job, that W.E. want to give credit where credit is due!

When it comes to teaching in Taiwan, it could easily be said: ‘It’s a cake job!”

W.E. can’t think of a better COUNTRY on Earth to teach!
So W.E. have created an award JUST FOR TAIWAN: BEST PLACE TO TEACH!

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Taiwan’s biggest cities may feel a bit congested, but in terms of crime it is about as SAFE as you’re gonna get! In terms of public safety it feels comparable to SWEDEN.

The Taiwanese are SUPER-FRIENDLY, especially to Americans, ‘America people’ as they call us ! (Why? That’s another article, stay tuned!)

Award-winning Wild East Magazine (wildeast.net), wishes to RECOGNIZE TAIWAN for its EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING ENVIRONMENT that it provides FOR FOREIGN TEACHERS.

One American teacher in Pingtung City, ‘Teacher Pizza’ sums up her experience like this:
“What’s not to love about teaching here in Taiwan? I get to teach cute little Taiwanese kids for 22 bucks an hour, and I have lots of free time because I only teach 20 hours a week. Then I get about US$2000 a month, in a society where my costs are probably about half what they are in the States. So all these factors allow me to save a lot of money & go travel in Taiwan or Asia in my free time! It’s a tropical paradise that’s fun to explore!”
best bog awardIn fact, as Editor-in-chief of The Wild East, I am proud to announce W.E. — here at the Award-winning Wild East Magazine — WANT TO CONGRATULATE Taiwan, with a NEW ANNUAL PRIZE WE HAVE CREATED, TO GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE!

W.E. MAG NOMINATE TAIWAN: THE BEST PLACE TO TEACH IN ASIA!
(And who knows, maybe in the World!)

FOREIGN-LANGUAGE TEACHERS in Taiwan usually think TAIWAN is a place where the people are SUPER-FRIENDLY, WARM, & HELPFUL TOWARD FOREIGNERS.

TAIWAN ‘MOST FRIENDLY’ TOWARDS FOREIGNERS

In fact, W.E. believe Taiwan is UNDER-ESTIMATED in terms of the warm welcome it provides!

Despite past international surveys on the ‘friendliness’ of its people, TAIWAN RARELY GETS A MENTION.

W.E. FEEL TAIWAN HAS BEEN VASTLY UNDERESTIMATED IN THIS AREA AS WELL!

So W.E. Mag ALSO NAMES TAIWAN as ‘MOST FRIENDLY toward FOREIGNERS IN ASIA’.

Another common observation is how Taiwanese are so helpful!

“I was lost in Hsimending, trying to get to a certain famous noodle stand. When I asked for directions, the Taiwanese usually go out of their way, or accompany you to bring you there. They’ll check their phones & get you directions.

Said one teacher,
“Once I asked directions from a Taiwanese lady, & she didn’t speak English. But she called her ayi (‘auntie’) who did, & could translate for us!”

TRAVEL BENEFITS
Foreign teachers in Taiwan are often a very well-traveled bunch, & they get their ‘travel fix’ in on the teacher’s holidays!

In their free time, ESL teachers travel around by bike, car, train or scooter, and explore the many treasures of this little-known, but AMAZING, incredibly beautiful tropical island-country of Taiwan !

W.E. weighed many factors in selecting TAIWAN as the Proud Recipient of this HONOR: cost of living vs salary; possibilities for learning MANDARIN CHINESE (a major diplomatic language); as well as EASE, COMFORT & CONVENIENCE OF LIFESTYLE.

After all these years, Taiwan is STILL arguably THE BEST PLACE TO TEACH IN ASIA for ALL THESE FACTORS.

THE AWARDS WILL BE PRESENTED TO TAIWAN’S MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (MOE).

CONGRATULATIONS, EVERYBODY !
